Salisbury Dog Park

Well it is so close our four legged friends can smell it!

The Salisbury Dog Park is said to be opening March 1st!

The dog park is a great alternative to a walk or fetch. It is a great way to not only socialize your dog but for you to chat with other dog owners as well. Dogs always come back tired and happy from the dog park, and I know that I am so glad that we FINALLY have one here in Salisbury!

This is the link for the Salisbury Dog Park's facebook page where they have been updating about progress and the first place that you can hear about the Grand Opening.

Oxford Day

I have spoken about Oxofrd Day here on Dog Friendly Delmarva before, but the official 2011 date has been announced! It will be Saturday April 30, 2011!

This event is extremely dog friendly. Talbot Humane will host a Dog Walk, and a Dog show. All proceeds from this event will go to help care for the pets there. The town itself is very dog friendly. There are water bowls all over for our four legged friends and the ice cream vendor even sells frosty paws!

There will also be a parade and all sorts of demonstrations throughout the day. The events take place all over town, mostly in the park but also down by the ferry. This is an adorable town to walk around and check out the architecture and true small town feel. We had a great time at the whole day (until the rain) but this is a rain or shine event so there is still lots to do even if we do get some of those April showers. I HIGHLY recommend this event.

Geocaching

Geocashing is a new "sport" of sorts taking over America. It is part scavenger hunt, part hike. You can pack the car and go far or just take a short trip down the road. There are tons of caches to be found all over Delmarva. Signing up at http://www.geocaching.com/ is free. They have a list of locations, along with difficulty level, which ones are pet friendly, how long it should take, and extra clues and reviews to give you a successful geocaching experience.

It is really fun, and you can even place your own caches and post them to the website.

Wicomico County is a great place to both find and place caches. This can be a great day trip or just a quick outting for you and your pup. Its a great opportunity to have a goal on a walk and put your dog to work instead of a regular mindless walk. And it gives you an opportunity to give your dogs some new smells.
